Half & Half Runners

This Race Ain't Half Bad!

How about a unique take on a 10K race in West Yorkshire?

If this race is half as good as it sounds then you're on to a winner at January's Half & Half 10K. The brainchild of race organiser, Run Able, the unique event really is 'race of two halves'.

Set to take place on 27 January at Sowerby Bridge near Halifax, the Half & Half 10K is 'a race of two halves'. The first 5K takes place over fast roads giving entrants plenty of opportunity to stride out and pick up the pace. But there is a sting in the tail as the second 5K sees runners take on soggy wet trails. Organisers warn: "This section will be energy sapping on your legs so make sure you have conserved some power on the first 5K."

We may be referring to 'first' and 'second' legs, but essentially, it is up to you which 'half' you want to complete first. Road then trail or trail then road, that said, it is worth knowing that organisers do state: "We strongly suggest you run the road first, trail last!" We wonder why?

In 2023 the winning times were claimed by Francesco Pillitteri in 45:21 and Tanya Minogue in 57:27.

All Run Able events provide a fun and exciting way to stay active and healthy with a variety of races and challenges that are perfect for runners of all levels & abilities. The Half & Half is just one of a whole series of challenges lined up for 2024, all of which sound fantastic fun. Think PieAthlon and WineAthlon and you get the drift.
