Grimsthorpe Gallop

A Galloping Great Time

Take your pick from four race distances at this autumn's Grimsthorpe Gallop...

There's nothing grim about the Grimsthorpe Gallop, set in the beautiful grounds of Grimsthorpe Castle in the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside, this event makes for a perfect autumn race, whether you take on the family friendly 5K or go for the longer challenges of  10K, 10 Miles or Half Marathon.

Normally a summer event, organiser, SBR Events, has changed the date for 2023 to: "... avoid the summer heat and make later start times so runners can look forward to early autumn temperatures on 10 September."

The four events take participants past various delights within the private grounds including the castle, lake, tree-lined avenues, ancient woodland and a Victorian railway culvert. The train line no longer exists, but the 10 and 13.1 mile routes travel along this section and take runners to a part of the world generally unseen by the public.

Speaking about the route organisers say: "Please note elevation on the route maps - you start up at the castle and run downhill towards the lake - there are several undulations on the course, all with outstanding views."

The race start and finish line is in front of the castle offering a unique venue. Organisers comment: "We will have the usual friendly event atmosphere that we bring to all of our races and some amazing bling - making this perfect for your first, second or 100th race!"

This event is a real celebration of running and is ideal for novice through to elite. There will be a race village with hot food and beverages for sale. You can look forward to fabulous hot food and drinks as well as ice cream and not to mention the free post race massage!
