Earn Your Halo This Spring

Celebrate spring equinox with a scenic trail run...

There are few things us Brits look forward to more than the days getting longer - so why not celebrate spring equinox at the Peak District’s Halo event.

Having made a successful debut in June last year, the Halo is back on 19 March. This is an event for people who don’t like to navigate but want an adventure - a four mile loop takes you on a challenging jaunt to the north east of High Ashes Rural Project, close to the eastern edge of the Peak District.

A six or 12-hour lapped trail run on the Saturday closest to spring equinox, the course offers expansive views, a speedy descent, a not so speedy ascent, and plenty of gorgeous woodland trail in between.

The navigation conundrum is solved by this event. It is marked out and the lapped format means that runners know what’s coming up next, and shouldn't have to check a map. Do as many laps as you can, your pace is down to you. Go hardcore and run for the duration or take it as a day’s jaunt with mates and help each other through ‘just one lap more’.

Organisers say: "Our checkpoint is by the start at High Ashes Farm. This will be stocked with individually packed consumables (bars, crisps, bananas, savouries, pizza etc) as well as hot drinks and water. You will get a motivating round of cheers, quacks and oinks every time you lap."
