Will You Run Wirral?
Wirral 10K gears up for another record-breaking outing...
The countdown is on for the Wirral 10K, which returns to the promenade on 12 October. With less than three weeks to go, organisers have confirmed entry numbers have already surpassed last year’s total of 750 runners.
The race, which restarted in 2023 after a two-year break, has quickly re-established itself as a highlight of the Wirral running calendar. This year’s medal design features the iconic Perch Rock Lighthouse, alongside a striking event T-shirt that celebrates the local landmarks which make the route so special.
Starting and finishing on Ian Fraser Walk, the course is an out-and-back route along the picturesque New Brighton promenade. Runners will pass Fort Perch Rock before enjoying sweeping views of the Liverpool city skyline as they head toward the 5K turnaround point near Seacombe Ferry.
The route is fast, flat and packed with PB potential, making it a great choice for those chasing a quick time as well as anyone looking to take on their first 10K. In 2024, both the men’s and women’s records were broken, with Matthew Gawne of Altrincham & District AC clocking 33:52 and Lisa Gawthorne of Vegan Runners UK finishing in 38:07.
With record numbers already signed up and the promise of another electric atmosphere on race day, the 2025 edition is set to be the biggest yet.
