June is bustin' out all over...

...with races galore in runABC South's incomparable race listing

Finally, the summer's arrived and we are spoilt for racing choices with nearly 150 events listed for June and hardly a Cancelled or Postponed flag in sight! This, in theory at least, is the month of the great unlocking from all remaining coronavirus restrictions, although most events will continue with some additional safety measures for the time being.

Looking at runABC South's comprehensive race listing there are events from a mile to 66.6 miles on surfaces from road to cross country and multi-terrain. And there's no shortage of runners keen to test their fitness or try out some new gear, especially those fancy new shoes!

One of the longest events is the fully subscribed Dartmoor Discovery 32-mile ultra (pictured) on Saturday 5 June, with its new race finish and HQ at Princetown Community Centre. This is the UK's longest single-lap road ultra-marathon and it has gained something of a cult status on the running circuit as one of those races that runners simply have to have on their CV.

Isle of Wight Festival of Running takes place on Sunday 6 June with Needles Half Marathon being the centrepiece. This cross country race is described as one of the toughest and most scenic 13.1-mile races in the country with the highlight being the view of the eponymous Needles landmark off the coast of the island.

The mile race we mentioned is part of The Race Organiser's Race at the Base programme at Heyford Airbase in Oxfordshire's beautiful Cherwell Valley on Sunday 20 June. On a course that includes one of the longest runways in Europe you can fly to a PB in the half marathon, 10K, 5K or Family Mile.

Elsewhere, there are a variety of events listed from trusted and experienced race organisers like RunThrough, Nice Work, UK Running Events, 209 Events and so many more, so check runABC South race listings to see where you will break the ice and experience that solid feeling of fraternity as we reclaim our freedom to once again show our Hands and Face at a Race!
