Charity of the Week

CHAS 5K Challenge Runners

12 Days Of 5Ks

CHAS is inviting runners to take on a challenge this December...

Forget ticking off wish lists, hectic food shopping, RSI from writing cards and endless entertaining and give yourself another focus this December by joining Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) for the charity’s 12 Days Of 5k’s Virtual Challenge!

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to run 5km a day for 12 days in December to raise funds for children with life-shortening conditions and their families across Scotland. CHAS events such as this one are a vital part of the fundraising that helps the charity keep the joy alive for families all over Scotland.

As this is a virtual event, you can take part wherever you are - this is your challenge, your way. Feel free to double up some days, so you can have a day off. Or is 5K just not far enough? Well, how about upping the distance to 10K a day? Although you will be helping others with the money you raise, you will of course also be boosting your own fitness in the weeks leading up to Christmas. So pass the mince pies... and the stollen... and extra trifle too!

If you would like to be a part of the 5K Challenge, head over to Facebook and join the dedicated event Facebook group where you’ll be able to connect with other supporters throughout the challenge, share how your runs are going and access helpful fundraising tips.

Within the group you will also be able to register for your free CHAS Santa hat and set up your Facebook fundraiser, where you can post your distances to update supporters. There is no minimum fundraising amount but those participating are asked to try to raise as much as possible - anyone who raises over £100 will receive a medal after the event.
