Stoke City Community Trust looking to score with October runs
Football charity issues invitation to fundraising runs
On the weekend 3 and 4 October, Stoke City Community Trust is organising two virtual 5K and 10K runs to raise funds for its series of programmes; aimed at improving the life chances of people by helping them to realise their potential. The 5K and 10K runs are open to all ages and abilities and participants choose their own course whilst adhering to social distancing guidelines.
Stoke City Community Trust is a registered charity that works hard for and with the local population to improve their health and wellbeing through sport and education. Inclusion lies at its heart and activities and events are arranged that cater to all irrespective of age, socio-economic background, ethnicity and physical fitness. These include soccer schools, FIT FANS, free multisport sessions and a family weekly challenge amongst others and are designed to be fun as well as educational. The coronavirus pandemic caused many of these to be suspended but as lockdown restrictions are eased, the soccer schools have returned albeit in accordance with government guidelines.
The after effects of Covid-19 will be felt for some time to come and Stoke City Community Trust have sport, education and social programmes ready to deal with this and foster a positive outlook for the future.
With races stopped due to the crisis, there was a rise in popularity of virtual runs that were seen as a safe bet, giving people something to focus on. These Stoke virtual events welcome all levels of runners, joggers and walkers to take part. There are prizes for the fastest man, woman and child and medal and certificate for everyone who finishes.
