Run Like L This Year
Five 10K races in six months... up for it?
If, like me, you are looking for a way to maintain your enthusiasm for running over the year ahead then let me remind you of the Run Like L Challenge from Tay Fitness. A series of five 10K races taking place between March and August and the best bit is that every one of them is a total beauty!
So what is the deal with L, why have Tay Fitness named their series ‘Run Like L’? Well, some of you may have guessed that it is because 50 is represented by the letter ‘L’ in Roman numerals and those taking part will be signing up to run 50K! Organisers promise 'it won’t be hell but it will be L'!
The series offers stunning views, a range of terrain and regular targets to keep you motivated throughout the year. First up in the series is the Callander 10K which is scheduled for 17 March. In this event participants run towards Loch Venachar and enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding mountains.
Up next on on 21 April is the Hidden Glen 10K. Part of the Run Mhor Festival, this 10K starts at the stunning Monachyle Mhor and really isn't your average 10K - it was voted Best 10K in Scotland and Third Best in the UK in 2020!
The Thornhill 10K on 5 May has a spectacular course, with great PB potential. Run round the Frews, spot the Wallace monument, Munros to the north and then back to Thornhill.
Into June and the Mhor 84 10K takes place on the 9th of the month followed a couple of months later by the Killin 10K on 24 August. The Killin event will see runners cross the spectacular Falls of Dochart - this spectacular race was voted 3rd Best 10K in Scotland in 2020.
2023 Run Like L participant, Laura Bathgate, gave her top reasons to Run Like L in 2024:
"The amazing medal, it is some piece of bling! The fantastic volunteers - knowing a lot of them it’s like having a personal cheer squad at the water stops. Great post run munchies - I particularly enjoyed the ice cream at Mhor 84! Supporting local fundraising especially Thornhill and Killin. Having a big goal that you can tackle in little chunks keeping you motivated throughout the year.
"My favourite race would have to be on my home turf in Killin. I just love running round Glen Lochay it’s so beautiful!"
