Two Months To Run Barns Green
Coaching news from Run Barns Green Half Marathon...
There's a new coach for the Run Barns Green Half Marathon. But it's not one of those whistle-blowing, weather-hardened types who impart essential nuggets of wisdom to a cohort of runners who hang on every encouraging word, but more the big bus type of coach. This one is provided by Sussex Coaches, in partnership with Run Barns Green, to facilitate public transport users by whisking competitors from Christ's Hospital Station to the Race HQ and back after the event.
The 43rd-anniversary Run Barns Green Half Marathon and supporting 10K, 5K, and junior race will take place on Sunday, 28 September 2025. Last year saw 2,400 entrants and 1,951 finishers.
It’s a full programme with the third year of the 5K race starting at 9.55am, the Half Marathon at 10.05am, and the 10th annual 10K at 10.25am. Kids aged 4-11 can participate in the Kids Colour Run – Jennings Junior Jog at 12.30pm.
The senior races feature closed roads, chip timing, pacers and medals for all finishers. Runners will be kept hydrated with adequate water stations on the 10K and half marathon routes. Free parking, scenic views and a professional warm-up await participants. Road closures start at 9.30am, so arrive early!
This multiple award-winning event is run entirely by volunteers, and it continues to support St Catherine’s Hospice in 2025. This will be the 10th anniversary of the charitable partnership with St Catherine's Hospice and an estimated £500K has been raised for good causes since the inaugural Barns Green Half Marathon in 1982.
The course records for the half marathon are 1:04:28 by Edwin Kipyego (Kenya) in 2010 and 1:17:42 by Rebecca Moore (Worthing) in 2014. The 2024 winners were Nat Rowland (Victoria Park Harriers & Tower Hamlets AC, 1:12:27) and Alice Robinson (Worthing & District Harriers, 1:23:58) as 759 finished in just over three hours.
