All Aboard!
Does a race beside the River Thames float your boat...?
River Thames Running is delighted to welcome Uber Boat by Thames Clippers as their headline partners for a series of races down by Old Father Thames, starting with the 'Uber Boat by Thames Clippers' Hampton Court Half Marathon this Sunday 18 February 2024.
The complete Uber Boat by Thames Clippers River Thames Running Event Series also includes the Kingston Breakfast Run (formerly known as Kingston Spring Raceday) on 17 March; the Kingston Half Marathon on 9 October and the River Thames Half Marathon on 27 October 2024.
River Thames Running reckons there's only one better way to enjoy the River Thames than running it and that is to be on a boat! Uber Boat by Thames Clippers stops at 24 piers along the Thames between Barking Riverside Pier in the East and Putney Pier in the West.
River Thames Running will be organised by RUN-FEST as a separate running series following their acquisition of Quicksilver Running Events. Quicksilver Running has been organising mass participation events since 2012.
Founder and Race Director Peter Wedderburn decided the time was right to pass the baton on and is delighted that local operator RUN-FEST, led by husband-and-wife team Tom and Jade Bedford, will be taking over these events.
Peter looks forward to working on events with the RUN-FEST team as Associate Race Director, saying: “The last ten years have been the most satisfying of my working life and it’s been tremendously exciting to launch new events from scratch and watch them grow. While I will continue to take an active role, I’m hoping to cut down on erecting gazebos and shifting barriers at 5am on wet Sunday mornings! I’m looking forward to working with Tom and Jade on the next relay leg of these community running events”.
Tom Bedford of RUN-FEST said: “Our team has been helping Quicksilver Running Events for over 5 years so we know what makes them special. We are sure that with a bigger team effort, we will deliver the same if not better fun running events on the most beautiful parts of the River Thames".
Up to 3,000 runners are expected to take part in the first 'Uber Boat by Thames Clippers' Hampton Court Half Marathon on Sunday and the results will be available via runABC South race listing here.
