The Pendle Witches 10K is casting a slightly different spell over Lancaster this autumn, with a new route confirmed for the 2026 race.

Starting from Lancaster & Morecambe AC's clubhouse at Salt Ayre on Sunday 1 November, the redesigned 10K heads through the Lunesdale countryside. Organisers describe the new course as flat and fast, making it a tempting option for beginners as well as runners chasing a PB.

There is another change to the event this year. Pendle Witches will run alongside the Lancaster Half Marathon, putting two races onto the programme from the Salt Ayre venue.

Both the 10K and Half Marathon start at 11:00am, but the morning also has a distinctly less serious side.

The one mile Halloween Fun Run starts at 11:05am and is all about fancy dress rather than finishing times. There are no official times or positions, adults can take part and parents are welcome to accompany younger children. Witch themed medals await the finishers.

The main 10K is held under a UK Athletics licence, with medals for every finisher and prizes for the first three male and female runners.

With a genuinely new 10K route, the Lancaster Half Marathon sharing race day and plenty of Halloween mischief thrown in, there will be more than one reason to head for Salt Ayre on the first Sunday of November.
