The Slog Is Full But There Is Still A Way In
General entries for the 2026 Sodbury Slog have sold out, but charity places offer another route onto the start line for this famously muddy November challenge...
This relates to: Sodbury Slog
If you were planning to enter the 2026 Sodbury Slog through the usual route, you have left it too late. General entries for the famously muddy South Gloucestershire race have sold out.
There is, however, still a way onto the start line on Sunday 8 November. Guaranteed charity places remain available, giving runners the opportunity to tackle the Slog while raising money for good causes.
Anyone securing one will be taking on approximately 10 miles of deliberately uncompromising multi terrain running. Organised by Bitton Road Runners, the Slog leaves Chipping Sodbury for surrounding countryside and private farmland, where mud, water, hills and obstacles are very much part of the attraction.
There is a small change waiting for returning Sloggers in 2026. Organisers have altered the course slightly, removing the Leap of Faith and the return along Chipping Sodbury High Street. A new section known as the Sting takes their place, although anyone hoping that means an easier Sunday morning may be disappointed.
Race day also carries particular significance because the Slog takes place on Remembrance Sunday. Before the 11:10am start, runners observe an exhortation and two minutes' silence followed by the Last Post.
The event traces its history back to the Beagle Bash, first staged in 1990, and more than 100 marshals now help deliver the modern Slog.
A sell out several weeks before race day says plenty about its enduring appeal. For everyone else, those remaining charity places represent one final opportunity to discover why thousands of runners willingly spend a November morning getting thoroughly muddy in the South Gloucestershire countryside.
You can grab one of those precious charity places via the runABC race hub here.
