Almost time for the Linda Franks 5
Annual race is back to its usual January date.
There are only a few days to go to the sold out Linda Franks 5 on Sunday 23 January, an inclusive race with a PB potential course that is also open to wheelchair athletes. Every precaution has been taken to ensure an enjoyable and Covid-secure event on the day.
Always a well organised event by Almost Athletes where runner safety is of prime importance; Sunday’s race has taken the situation with the Omicron variant into account with a set of Covid instructions for participants to reduce the risk of transmission. These are available to download at the Almost Athletes website.
The 28th Linda Franks 5 Mile Road Race is part of the Gloucestershire AAA Road Race Series and Almost Athletes Road Race Series – both of which are competitive affairs. Expect some good fast racing on the day as runners push themselves on a two lap, flat course around residential streets – containing mile markers and friendly, supportive marshals – for podium places, PB’s or personal satisfaction.
Don’t forget another ‘P’ – prizes! There are prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female; first wheelchair athlete; age group winners and first team.
Once runners have crossed the finish line they collect their medal and water and keep moving through this area as per Covid precautions and head towards the Race HQ. There will be an outdoor refreshments van in the Race HQ car park for anyone wanting a drink or something to eat before setting off for home.
The forecast is light clouds and light winds for Sunday and temperatures of 2 degrees at 9am. Could be a cold one...
