Alder Hey 10K

Last Chance For Alder Hey 10K

Do you fancy mixing up your autumn training with a fast, well-organised and cost-effective 10k that takes in one of the north west’s most important heritage sites? Look no further than this Sunday’s Alder Hey 10K and Family Fun Run, which is now in its last day of accepting entries.

Launched last year, the event, which is organised by Sports Tours International and Alder Hey Children’s charity, received numerous plaudits for its unique and creative location.

The course incorporates Croxteth Hall and Country Park, one of Liverpool’s most important heritage sites that includes a real working farm, plus a Victoria Walled Garden and 500 acre nature reserve.

This grand setting played host to a series of fast times in the maiden race, with Liverpool Harrier Dejene Gezimu taking first in a speedy 32:08, while Liverpool Pembroke Sefton AC’s Kirsty Longley secured top spot in the female field with a time of 37:25.

For this year’s event, the charity will once again be of the upmost importance, with £1 in every entry going directly to them. What’s more, the finisher’s T-shirt has been designed by a young Alder Hey patient.

Funds raised will allow the charity to invest in life-saving medical equipment and facilities that make a real difference to the 275,000 patients and families who visit Alder Hey each year.

Registration, priced at £22, is available here.
