Kinloss Running Festival

Kinloss Is Coming Back!

Well-received north east running festival will return for a second outing in 2025...

Following the success of its inaugural event in 2024, the Kinloss Running Festival is gearing up for its second edition, scheduled for 30-31 August, the festival once again promises a diverse range of races including a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and the challenging Back Yard Ultra all set within the Kinloss Barracks Training Area, offering a unique opportunity to race on roads and runways in a historic military setting.

The 5K and 10K races allow runners to experience the distinctive Kinloss Barracks environment, following tarmac and concrete routes with minimal elevation, making them ideal for both beginners and experienced athletes. The Half Marathon has an ‘out and back’ route, utilising the northern runway, taxiways and perimeter road of the airfield.

For those looking for the ultimate test of endurance, the Back Yard Ultra follows a 4.1-mile loop repeated every hour until only one runner remains. The current course record which stands at 28 loops, set by Pim Kuus at the inaugural event, presents an exciting challenge for this year’s competitors.

The Race Village will be the heart of the event with participants and spectators having access to a range of food and drink options, including food vans, coffee stalls and ice-cream vendors.

Organisers have this to say: "With its mix of distances, exciting location and strong community spirit, our brilliant running festival is set to be a highlight of the running calendar once again. Whether you're aiming for a personal best or looking to challenge yourself with something new we have something for everyone."
