Fountains Abbey Wild Trail Runs is organised by Wild Deer Events at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal near Ripon, North Yorkshire. The event offers Half Marathon, 10K and 5K distances within the UNESCO World Heritage Site, combining trail running with one of England's most distinctive historic landscapes.
The routes incorporate sections of the Deer Park, Studley Royal Water Garden and the grounds surrounding the ruins of Fountains Abbey, a former Cistercian monastery founded in 1132. Runners encounter a mixture of estate tracks, woodland paths and open parkland, with climbs through the deer park contrasting with the more level sections around the water gardens. The varied terrain provides an engaging challenge across all three distances.
The event welcomes Canicross participants, with one controlled dog permitted per runner. All distances are chip timed, with a three-hour cut-off. Finishers receive a bespoke medal, event merchandise and refreshments, while on-site parking is available for runners and supporters.
