SCARPA Great Lakeland 3 Day

Laidback Adventure In The Lakes

A laidback three-day adventure in the Lake District is guaranteed at this springtime event...

The SCARPA Great Lakeland 3Day is back from 3-5 May offering an unforgettable three-day mountain journey in the Lake District. Since 1998, this event has given runners the freedom to choose their own route each day, with six courses catering to all abilities. With flexible start windows, complimentary hot drinks and cake at the finish, the event fosters a laidback, welcoming atmosphere.

The event centre, revealed two months before the start, changes location each year to showcase new parts of the Lake District. Previous events have begun in Pooley Bridge, Ennerdale, and Coniston. Runners can register and camp on Friday night, with pre-ordered meals available.

There are six courses to choose from: Café, Herdwick, Wainwright, Fellrunner, Extreme and Adventure. The Café course is perfect for runners looking to gain more experience while the Herdwick course is great if you’re looking to step up to a longer challenge without being as physically demanding as the Wainwright course. The Wainwright course will summit more peaks and is a great option for those with a little more experience.

The Fellrunner course is a tough course for those looking for a long day out in the fells, where the Extreme course is the most challenging and great training for multi-day expedition races like the Dragon's Back Race and the Cape Wrath Ultra. The Adventure Course gives runners complete flexibility – visit whichever checkpoints you want each day and see how many different ones you can visit in total over the weekend.

Organisers say: "The event’s relaxed nature, combined with breathtaking landscapes and great company, makes it as much about the experience as the challenge."
