Royal welcome for Windsor 10K & Half Marathon runners
Women are invited to the Windsor 10K (Saturday 29 September) where they will be treated like royalty. Alternately, they can step up the distance and enter the Windsor Half Marathon (Sunday 30 September).
Windsor Park is the place to be on the last weekend in September with a 10K on the Saturday and a half marathon on the Sunday. Entrants can look forward to traffic-free roads, beautiful grounds and the aptly named Long Walk not forgetting the magnificent Windsor Castle as a backdrop. They will be handsomely rewarded for their efforts.
The Windsor Women’s 10K is a popular all-female race that is suitable for the first timer and the experienced runner. There is a community ethos to this event in the form of a closed Facebook group, training plans and a messaging app. Organisers, Running4women are determined to develop a strong identity and participant interaction around this event.
Five time Olympian and mother of two children Jo Pavey is the official starter. She’ll run the 10K then will be available in the Running4women marquee to offer tips or advice after the race. Other treats in store include a pre-race aerobic warm up, age group prizes, souvenir medal and a technical T-shirt.
For any woman (and man) looking to go further there is the 36th Windsor Half Marathon, held in the same historic location. Expect a traffic-free course, six drinks stations, posh toilets, food and drink outlets and free entertainment for children. Finishers will receive a technical T-shirt and medal plus a bottle of water.
There are a record number of entries in the Windsor Women’s 10K and places are filling up quickly in both races.
To enter, visit the Windsor Women’s 10K website or the Windsor Half Marathon website.
