Bashing out the miles at Baggeridge 5K

Really Good Summer Relay Action

Runners will be in the loop at this new charity event in Baggeridge Country Park...

Summer is just around the corner and so is a new event from Action Heart Running Club where teams of three people compete against each other whilst raising funds for the cardiac charity. They’ll put their heart and soul into those laps at the Summer Sprint 5K Relay...

On Thursday 22 June at 7.15pm, teams of runners will gather at Baggeridge Country Park near Dudley to enjoy an evening of racing and camaraderie. Each member will complete a mile (well, just over) on a quick course consisting of trail paths which are perfect for running. The start and finish are on grass but apart from that it is trail all the way. Action Heart’s ‘Tuff ‘Un’ has been held there previously to great success.

This event welcomes runners aged 11 upwards and of all abilities to form teams who will be timed over 5K. The third leg runner takes the time for their team.

There are prizes for the first, second and third teams plus spot prizes and refreshments afterwards. Cake is always popular with runners...

The proceeds go to Action Heart, a cardiac exercise rehabilitation charity based at Russells Hall Hospital which provides a range of services for patients over a 12 month period. These services have recently been extended to include people suffering from kidney disease, stroke, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, cancer and Long Covid.

Several teams have signed up but there is still room for others to take part. Final preparations are being made so don’t leave it too long to enter!
