Big smile despite the hilly course at the Carsington 7.5 Mile

Carsington 7+ ready to charm

This race is part of the Triple Package which includes the Wilne 10K and the Derby 10 Mile.

Run on round, the water’s lovely at the Carsington 7+ on Sunday 14 May. Complete a 7.5 mile loop around the reservoir whilst admiring the Derbyshire countryside then reward yourself with a healthy treat from Smalls Kitchen.

If you haven’t run this race before, why not dip your toe in the water and try the Available Car Carsington 7+ in one of the most picturesque locations in the East Midlands. It’s part of the RunDerby Race Series and a well organised and supported event which always attracts a good turnout of runners of all abilities.

Derby & District RSPC is the headline charity and this year, is celebrating its’ 150th birthday. Entrants are invited to become one of the ‘150 Heroes’ and raise a minimum of £150 for this charity.

Carsington Water is the UK’s ninth largest reservoir, capable of holding up to 8 million gallons of water and 31 metres deep when full. It's a sports lovers paradise where runners share the stage with cyclists, anglers and watersports enthusiasts amongst others.

The race starts at 9.30am from the Visitor Centre and takes runners on a circular tour of the reservoir, heading in a clockwise direction on a well marked cycle track with marshals placed at key points. There is one water station at 5 miles and more water at the finish.

Whilst it’s easy to assume this is a flat race due to the location, there are in fact a few climbs along the way. However, the reservoir and surrounding areas form a stunning backdrop and will take any runner's mind of the uphill sections.

Note: this is not a closed route and care must be taken when running past other visitors to the reservoir.

The prizes for the top three men and women include a voucher for the Derby Runner shop, voucher for Andra Health and a bottle of wine. Each finisher receives a medal.
