Coigach Half Marathon

A Race Worth Traveling For

If scenic races are your thing, don't let this one pass you by this autumn...

Just two months to go until this 'unabashedly old school' wee run returns! The Coigach Half Marathon is also billed as a 'road race for trail runners' and if you don't mind a bit of travel to your races then this 12 October event is a fantastic autumn option.

Speaking about their stunning race, organisers say: "Runners return for the wild weather, the hills, the stunning remote surroundings and the laid back friendly feel. And this year we will have a Ceilidh with a live band in the evening!"

The race starts in the village of Achiltibue, by Ullapool and is considered, by many, as one of the most beautiful half marathons in the UK. With views out over the Summer Isles, The route takes runners on a fantastic rollercoaster ride round the beautiful Coigach Peninsula. It is a looped course that hugs the coastline before heading inland and back towards the start, following a hilly, but stunningly scenic course.

Not only will there be fabulous views and friendly folk, but a delicious tea afterwards in aid of Macmillan - and perhaps some entertainment too. Organisers have called it an 'impressive and oh-so welcome spread.'

Speaking after 2023's edition, organisers said: "Well, we are in awe of the 82 runners who braved significant wind speeds to complete the 2023 Half Marathon - and with such joy! Some exciting results for first timers and great times in challenging circumstances. Well done all."

The race is held to raise funds for the upkeep of the local playing field, so runners can enjoy a spectacular athletic experience while helping a local community and its school. There is still time to enter, or indeed you can enter or on the day.
