Running High Events hands BATHALF baton to London Marathon Events...

The fully sold-out 42nd Bath Half Marathon – styled as 'BATHALF' – on Sunday 17 March will be the last one to be held under the experienced stewardship of long-serving Race Directors Andrew and Mel Taylor, who will be stepping down after the 2024 event.

For next year's race, on Sunday 16 March 2025, the organisational baton will be passed on to London Marathon Events (LME) as BATHALF is added to their growing portfolio of mass participation running, cycling, and swimming events.

The Bath Half Marathon – first held in 1982 – is one of the UK’s most prestigious road races, the largest sporting and community event in Bath, and the largest charity fundraising event in the south west. Since 2000, more than £30 million has been raised for a host of charities by the fast, flat race in the heart of the World Heritage City of Bath.

Last year's winners were Jonathan Escalante-Phillips (Cambridge & Coleridge AC, 1:04:25) and Phillipa Williams (Hallamshier Harriers, 1:13:05) who both set personal best times as 9,240 runners finished in just over five hours.

Hugh Brasher, Event Director for London Marathon Events, said: “The Bath Half is a wonderful event in a beautiful setting. We look forward to working with Bath and North East Somerset Council to grow the event over the next five years and inspire activity in local communities and schools. I’d like to pay tribute to the work of Andrew and Mel Taylor for developing the event over the past 25 years.”

Andrew Taylor, co-founder of Running High Events Ltd, organisers of the Bath Half, said: “Mel and I have been honoured to have organised the Bath Half for the last 25 years and we’re proud to have built a platform enabling charities to raise more than £30 million since we took over management of the event in 2000.

"Now is the right time for us to step down and we’re delighted that London Marathon Events will be taking the event forward. We’d like to thank our staff, race entrants, charity and corporate partners, contractors, volunteers, council staff and councillors, and above all the community of Bath for their longstanding support for this much-loved event.”
