20 Along The Forth

20 Fun Miles On The Forth

Spring marathon incoming? Test yourself on the Forth first...

If you've signed up for a spring marathon in 2024, you'll be looking looking for a race to test your stamina in the run up to the big day. Top of your list should be Blast Running's 20 Along the Forth, which is planned for 16 March, making it a fantastic option.

This established long-distance event will allow you to test your race pace, try out your race day kit, trial your fuel and hydration strategy and run with others. All of this while enjoying a gorgeous route along tarmac and trails by the Firth of Forth estuary.

Starting in Cramond, the route will then take runners through Dalmeny Estate, out to South Queensferry and up and over the Forth Road Bridge before heading back to Cramond. The course is approximately 70% tarmac and 30% farm roads, it is also undulating (1094ft of overall climb), but we are assured that 'there are no big hills to tackle!'.

Summing the race up organisers have said that it is: "a perfect mix of undulating trail running in Dalmeny Estate with a wee jaunt over the Forth Road Bridge thrown in for good measure!"

A previous entrant enthused: "Beautiful course, running across the Forth Road bridge was euphoric in the sunshine, with all the other runners passing each other and giving support. The food at the end was incredible."
