Popular Warwickshire midweek series has a change of format for 2026...
A popular Warwickshire midweek running series is getting a fresh new look for 2026 after organisers announced a change of format that will see the Tempo Summer Midweek Series become the Tempo Summer 5K Series.
The revamped series will feature three races staged between May and July, each taking place on a Thursday evening and all over the same distance. For the first time every race in the series will be a 5K, with each event hosted at a different location across the region.
Runners can take part in all three events or choose individual races, but those who complete the full set will receive a special Tempo Events Summer Series race t-shirt at the end of the final round.
The opening race takes place on Thursday 7 May in Tysoe and is set to be the flattest course of the series. The out and back route runs along the road between Tysoe and Oxhill and is expected to provide a fast opportunity for runners chasing an early season 5K time. Round two follows on Thursday 11 June in Pebworth. This race features a circular road route leaving the village along Long Marsden Road towards Dorsington before returning via Dorsington Road.
The final race of the series takes place on Wednesday 9 July the picturesque Alscot Estate near Atherstone on Stour, just outside Stratford upon Avon. The course is mainly on road with the final 600m switching to trail as runners return onto the estate grounds for a memorable finish.
In addition to the series t-shirt for those who complete all three races, trophies will also be awarded to the best placed male and female athletes across the full series. In partnership with the Alscot Estate, the series will raise funds for Friends of Stratford Hospital, a charity which provides equipment, services and additional comforts for both patients and staff at Stratford Hospital.
