Daddy Pig at Cutty Sark

It's Piggin' Tough Out There

runABC can reveal that Daddy Pig is a celebrity entrant to the TCS London Marathon...

runABC can reveal the oink-tastic news that Daddy Pig, from the much-loved children’s cartoon Peppa Pig, will be taking on the TCS London Marathon this April – both in the show and in real life on the streets of London!

Daddy Pig will be running to raise money and awareness for the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) following the announcement last month that George Pig is moderately deaf. He hopes to raise £54,000 for NDCS, a figure chosen to represent the number of children in the UK who are affected by hearing loss.

Daddy Pig has been seen out training for the London Marathon. He is pictured above after a preview run over the first 10K from the start at Blackheath Common to the Cutty Sark at Greenwich, where he told our roving reporter: "Phew, it's piggin' tough, this marathon lark", before trottering off for his next media engagement at Tower Bridge!

London Marathon Events, organisers of the TCS London Marathon, have been working in collaboration with Hasbro, the production company behind Peppa Pig, and the NDCS, to bring this storyline to life.

More than 50 runners supporting the charity will also participate in the race alongside the official Daddy Pig runner, who'll be running in a specially designed running costume and whose progress can be tracked on the day by using the TCS London Marathon app.

With 26.2 miles being nothing to snort at, you can cheer on Daddy Pig via this link to his fundraising page...
