Stratford’s Big Half & 10K

Stratford's Big Day Is Back

10K and Half Marathon race action is on offer at this September event...

After the successful introduction of a half marathon at last year's outing, the Stratford Big 10K will once again be joined by a 13.1 miler at this year's event which will take place on 29 September.

Organised by Tempo Events the route for both races shows everything that Shakespeare’s Stratford-Upon-Avon has to offer with a finish coming past the Bards RSC Theatre. Previous results show that this event is ideal for gaining personal best times which is useful for both experienced runners and those new to the distance.

The 10K has long been a highly regarded race that attracts a good mix of club athletes, charity runners and those attempting the distance for the first time. Runners are also always rewarded with enthusiastic marshals and a supportive atmosphere.

The race will be a couple of weeks later than in previous years, organisers say: "We've chosen the end of the month to avoid any clashes with other local half marathons. We know just how popular this year's race has been with the Half Marathon selling out completely last year. We have expanded how many numbers can run but we know it’ll be super popular."

They have also mentioned the half marathon route, which will be tweaked slightly in 2024: "We’re also looking at adjusting the Half Marathon route slightly to avoid runners doing the 1 mile lap of the rec at the start so that both races can start together which should add to the already brilliant atmosphere."

There were close to 1200 runners across the two distances in 2023. In the 10K race it was Andy Lawrence of Stratford AC who claimed victory in 32:35 while first female was Laura Kaye in 36:14. The Half Marathon top spots went to Ashley Baldwin (Tamworth AC) in 1:13:15 and Lydia Mann in 1:24:52 which placed her 8th overall!
