Racing After Dark
Embrace the dark, and the light, at this incredibly scenic night-time 10K...
The nights are rapidly drawing in, heating is (almost) on, jumpers are waiting in the wings and winter is well and truly on its way, which can only mean one thing - night running season is almost upon us! Catering to lovers of this race type, Pacesetter Events are back with their stunning Rutland Night 10K on 10/11 November.
Speaking about their event, a spokesperson said: "We are proud to present our Rutland Night 10K at Rutland Water. The event is for everyone to come and enjoy a fantastic experience no matter what their ability. Each November you have the chance to experience this incredible venue after dark with our beautiful lights around the entire course.
The 10K starts and finishes at one of Rutland's most recognisable landmarks, Normanton Church. It will be beautifully illuminated making it visible throughout the whole course. The route is completely traffic free, on well maintained footpaths. You don't always need to race, you can come and enjoy the atmosphere. The route will be subtly illuminated throughout.
The course heads along the south shore before completing the length of the Dam. Runners will then pass through Sykes Lane where views of the route already completed will be spectacular. Speaking about the course conditions, organisers say: "After a few hundred metres the majority of the route is Tarmac. We cannot promise there won't be damp sections, especially in the wooded areas. At this time of year the tracks can be muddy and covered in leaves."
But forget the mud, this race is all about bringing on the bobble hats, glow sticks and being mesmerised by thousands of fairy lights. Sounds amazing!
