Run Banchory Blasts Back

Runners in the north east can look forward to the return of this popular multi-terrain running festival this summer...

Run Banchory is back with a bang this August. Hot on the success of adding two new distances to the roster which originated with a 10K (half marathon in 2022 and 5K in 2023), this year will see runners once more have the option to run in one of three events on race day - 25 August. And we must not forget the 1K race for kids too!

Speaking about their event, organisers say: "We love seeing runners head over Dee Bridge at the start of the race. A great sight! And it will be even better this year as this road will be closed to all traffic for 2 hours which will allow runners to push for that PB!"

The 10K and the half-marathon events predominantly take place in the scenic Scolty/Blackhall forest area with routes that cater for all running abilities but can definitely be considered 'a good test'.

The 5K boasts a generally a flat route that takes runners along Blackhall road before looping down to the riverside taking in beautiful views of the River Dee before returning to the King George V Park. This route is ideal for beginners or runners looking to get a 5K PB.

The 1K run will take place in the grounds of the King George V Park and the surrounding area. A brilliant way to get the kids involved in a healthy pursuit, and of course there will be medals, refreshments and a great community atmosphere.

There will be a wide range of prizes on offer plus refreshments and great community atmosphere. Funds raised from Run Banchory help support the Banchory Outdoor and Active group, which aims to increase fitness in the local area. BOA’s current focus is on rejuvenating and increasing the size of the town’s derelict football pitches and improving access to the facilities when complete.
