Rivington's 10 Miler
10 Mile Trail Challenge returns to Lancashire this spring...
Try your hand at one of Lancashire’s most popular spring events as the Rivington 10 Mile Trail Challenge returns on 12 April. Organised by Trail Blazing Events, the race has built a strong reputation over recent years and regularly sells out ahead of race day.
Set in the heart of the West Pennine Moors, the event offers a 10 mile route that begins and ends in the village of Rivington, taking runners through a varied mix of woodland, open countryside and well established trails.
The course includes sections through White Coppice and around Wheelton Plantation with wide ranging views across moorland and reservoirs providing a memorable backdrop. Organisers describe the route as both challenging and runnable, rewarding those who pace themselves steadily across the terrain.
While the event attracts experienced trail runners, it is also designed to appeal to those new to off road running or stepping up in distance. The inclusive approach has helped make it a favourite among club runners, first time trail participants and those using the race as preparation for longer events later in the year.
Beyond the race itself, the setting adds to the appeal. Rivington is known for its rolling hills, historic features and peaceful village atmosphere, offering a welcome escape from busy roads and a chance for runners and spectators to enjoy a day out in the countryside.
