The Beast Mauls South Of England Race Programme

Bad weather has had a huge impact on the south of England running programme for the weekend of 3/4 March.

The Beast from the East has ravaged this weekend's race programme with a number of events being cancelled, some postponed until later in the year and late decisions around others.

Spring marathon training schedules will need a re-think with the loss of traditionally important races like the Essex 20 and Ramsgate's Ricky Savage 20. Welwyn Half Marathon has been postponed until September while Berkhamsted Half Marathon and 5 Mile Run has been cancelled.

Charity races have been badly hit with Resolution Runs in both Brighton and Aylesbury and BHF's feature half marathon at Warwick all lost to the vagaries of the weather.

Adventure racers will have to wait until 2019 for another Mighty Deerstalker challenge however the Nuts Winter races tomorrow and Sunday are going ahead. But those hoping for a 'bright lights' Supernova 5K evening tomorrow at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will have to wait until October.

runABC South has been updating its race listing with news from organisers as it appears on event websites and via social media. Stay in touch here.

Bournemouth, Hampstead Heath, Southwark, Milton Keynes, Margate and Bromley parkruns are just a few of this weekend's parkrun losses. Check the parkrun cancellations page for up-to-date information.
