Penny Lane Striders 10K Runners

Sunday is Run Day!

New Sunday slot for popular north west club race...

A popular Merseyside race is back for 2023 but this year it boasts a brand new Sunday slot - traditionally a midweek race, the Penny Lane Striders 10K will this year take place on Sunday, 18 June.

Part of the Merseyside Road Running Grand Prix, Penny Lane Striders have organised this race for over 10 years with its popularity growing year-on-year. Indeed, demand is such that organisers have had to increase entry limits to over 500 in recent years! This may have something to do with the change in course some six years ago, which resulted in a faster, flatter 10K with real PB potential!

The fast course takes runners along the famous River Mersey Promenade, through Otterspool Park before returning to race HQ at Riversdale Police Club. The race is well-organised and marshalled by club members who enthusiastically cheer on local club and unattached runners alike and are well known for their motivation along the course.

The enthusiastic support is a real bonus for all entrants, whether 10K pros or those dipping their toe in the 10K water. A previous entrant commented: "Thanks to all the marshals for their encouragement and to the Striders for organising an excellent event." While another added: "Thoroughly enjoyed the PLS 10K. Fantastic encouragement and support from all of the PLS marshals made it very special."

At the finish of this year's race there will be a massage facility where runners can receive a massage from Rehablab UK in return for a £5 (minimum) donation to Penny Lane Striders chosen charity which this year is British Heart Foundation.
