Hereford’s 5K series ready to spring again
Get moving for this speedy trio of races and a strong chance of a PB.
Fancy a 5K personal best this spring? There are three chances to do so at Hereford Couriers 5K Series, taking place in April, May and June. It's midweek racing at its finest...
Whilst others are marathon training, why not test yourself over this short distance at the Hereford Couriers Spring 5K Series where you can expect top quality racing at well organised events. Expect pain too as racing a 5K often means going ‘eyeballs out’ in order to achieve a target time.
Runners from local clubs will strain every sinew in the pursuit of a fast time and maybe even a series prize. There's the men’s and women’s course records to aim for: Men - 14:40 by Ben Robinson of Gloucester AC and Female: 16:45 by Rachel Brown of Western Tempo RC, both of which were set in 2021.
Last year, Western Tempo RC’s Charlie Jones was the men’s series winner and Forest of Dean AC’s Samantha Harris the women’s series winner. Who will be crowned the series King and Queen in 2023?
Race 1 is on Wednesday 5 April; Race 2 on Wednesday 3 May and Race 3 on Wednesday 7 June. All of them are held on a fast and flat chipped timed course through a quiet housing estate where efficient marshals encourage everyone to the finish.
This series is open to every runner regardless of ability. There are two start waves to cater for a range of paces which are sub-20 minutes (Wave 1) and over 20 minutes (Wave 2).
Runners need to complete all three races to be considered for an award with the list comprising individual and team prizes. Likewise with the medal which is presented to runners who complete the three 5K’s.
