Runners at the Tamworth Gate Gallop

Make a mad dash for the Gate Gallop

Entries open for this warm hearted event with a choice of two routes plus a kids run.

Expect a few obstacles to climb over as part of the fun at the Tamworth Gate Gallop on Sunday 25 June which has opened for entries. Stiles, bridges and yes, gates too are part of the 10K at this popular and well-established event raising funds for St Giles Hospice.

This event is organised by Peel Road Runners and is one of several races in the Burton & District Summer League. Anker Valley Sports Complex, Tamworth is the venue with a range of facilities including free onsite parking.

The day begins with the 600m Children’s Race at 9.45am which involves running or walking around the football pitches. Parents can join their children who will receive a medal and goody bag at the finish.

Next up is the 4.4K Fun Run at 10.15am for age 9 and upwards who complete a lap around the football pitches before continuing along an attractive, off-road and traffic-free course. The terrain is a mix of grass and tracks and there is a water station at 3K. There are prizes for the first three male and female finishers with medals and goody bags for the finishers.

Then it’s time for the 10K starting at 11.30am on a scenic, mainly flat run through the fields of the Anker Valley on grass, concrete paths, tracks and a short tarmac section. Enjoy a scramble over the gates and other obstacles then rehydrate at 3K and 5K ahead of a sprint finish. The prizes are for top three men and women, age category winners and first male and female team with a medal and goody bag for every finisher.

There will be a cake stall (always a vote winner!), kids entertainment and other activities with all proceeds going to St Giles Hospice.

Further information can be found at the Gate Gallop website.

Registration for the 10K and 4.4K Fun Run is via the AV Timing website.
