Surrey Half Marathon 2020 winner Ben Cole

Club Championship adds £300 prize to Surrey Half

Two weeks to sign up and line up in Surrey's largest half marathon

The Mercer Surrey Half Marathon hasn't missed a beat since the inaugural event in 2014. The ninth edition of this ever-evolving race takes place in just over two weeks.

With The Race Organiser/AAT Events at the helm and a brand new for '22 team event, there is still time to secure your number for Surrey's largest half marathon on Sunday 6th March 2022. You can even enter for just £15 if you commit to raising a minimum of £100 for Harrison’s Fund charity to fight Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne is a fatal muscle-wasting condition which means that all the muscles in the body will deteriorate over time.

Last year's Mercer Surrey Half Marathon was pushed back to 26th September by the Covid-19 pandemic but still drew nearly 1,400 participants for the main event and supporting 5K and Kids Run at Woking Leisure Centre.

The 2021 race winners were Ben Goddard (Woking AC, 1:10:41) and Emily Jeanes (Trent Park RC, 1:23:32) and there were 924 finishers in 3:45:51.

Mercer Surrey Half Marathon has been recognised with three consecutive Gold Awards from the British Association of Road Races. The exceptional features of this race include FREE race photos, FREE training plans, a huge medal, instant chip-timed results, full medical support, and live music from local bands on the route.

New for this year is the Run Club Championships open to affiliated athletics club members or registered running groups. Much like an old-school mob match, every finisher scores a point for their club/group, with additional points for top ten placings or top four finishers in four veteran categories.

Team captains won't require a doctoral degree in mathematics as all the calculations will be made by the race organisers and there will be a £300 cash prize for the winning team. The same competition will run in the 5K race, where the winning prize is £75.

So that's the rundown on the changes for Mercer Surrey Half Marathon for this year. All you have to do now is visit the race website to secure your place on the start line.
