The Chester Marathon is organised by Active Leisure Events and also features the Metric Marathon and Mini Marathon, creating one of the UK's best known autumn running festivals. Welcoming runners of all abilities, the event combines outstanding organisation with a unique route that crosses the border between England and Wales.

The marathon follows a scenic road course through the historic streets of Chester before heading into the surrounding Cheshire and North Wales countryside. The Metric Marathon offers a shorter but equally rewarding challenge, while the Mini Marathon provides younger runners with the opportunity to be part of the event weekend. The marathon is the only marathon in the UK to cross two countries during the race, making it a memorable experience for first time marathon runners and experienced competitors alike.
