In perfect synch at Walsall Arboretum parkrun

Enjoy a sweet parkrun at Walsall Arboretum

Saturday’s event includes a cake sale on behalf of bowel cancer charity.

There is a treat in store at Walsall Arboretum parkrun this Saturday (6 August) which is sure to be a winner with participants and volunteers alike. Cakes and other confectionary will be available to purchase after the event with proceeds going to Bowel Cancer UK.

Organised by Lorraine Beesley, Paul Stephenson and Mandip Thandi who have put out a request for cake donations – baked or bought, which will go on sale at Walsall Arboretum from 8am to 10.30am.

This is one of many fundraising initiatives from the indomitable Lorraine who has run, cycled or walked for the British Heart Foundation, Children with Cancer UK and the Cats Protection League. An accomplished runner with victories and podium finishes to her name across a range of distances from 5K to marathon, she is in winning form in the FV55 age category and looking to do well at the TCS London Marathon on Sunday 2 October.

Lorraine along with Mandip is running as part of Team Bowel Cancer UK at London: this is a charity she feels a personal connection to after losing her mother to this disease. Since July 2021 she has been raising money for Bowel Cancer UK and is 80% of the way to her target of £2,500. #Nevergiveup is her mantra and she supports the charity in its goal of stopping people dying from cancer.

Come along to Walsall Arboretum on Saturday 6 August and complete three laps in a clockwise loop around this attractive park whilst being cheered by the smiling volunteers. Then refuel with cake to make it a perfect day.
