A limited number of places remain for the River Thames Half Marathon, with runners heading to Walton-on-Thames on Sunday 25 October for a flat autumn 13.1 miles beside the river.

Starting and finishing beside Walton Bridge, the course heads towards Hampton Court Bridge and back, with much of the race following the Thames. It is predominantly traffic-free and mixes roads and paved paths with gravel, grass and sections of towpath.

The flat course gives the race plenty of appeal for runners with a quick time in mind, while the riverside setting provides a changing backdrop throughout the morning. Sunbury Weir, Sunbury Lock, Molesey Lock and Hurst Park all feature along the route before runners make their way back towards Walton Bridge.

The event returned in 2023 following a three-year break and has attracted increasingly large fields since. There were 476 finishers in 2023, followed by 740 in 2024 and 846 in 2025.

This year's race starts at 8:30am, with chip timing and pacers available. Runners can also expect free race photography, while finishers receive a medal, technical T-shirt and goody bag.

Entries remain open, but with only a limited number of places now available, anyone hoping to spend an October Sunday morning going with the flow beside the Thames may want to make their move.
