New Venue For Lakeland Trails
Lakeland Trails at Leighton Hall looks like it will be a standout new addition to the spring trail running calendar in 2026...
Lakeland Trails adds an exciting new venue to its 2026 calendar with the launch of the Leighton Hall event set to take place on 14 March 2026. This stunning new location takes runners just beyond the Lake District to explore the beautiful Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape, an area celebrated for its wildlife, limestone scenery and outstanding coastal views.
Set within the historic grounds of Leighton Hall, a family home dating back to 1240, the event offers a unique trail running experience with sweeping views across Morecambe Bay and the surrounding countryside. The gentler terrain in this part of the landscape makes it an ideal early season race.
Runners can choose between a 10K trail run and a half marathon, with both courses designed to showcase the very best of the area. The 10K route offers a flowing run through farmland and reedbeds, finishing fast and flat in front of Leighton Hall itself. The half marathon heads further into the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape, delivering spectacular views of the River Kent estuary and across to the Lake District.
As with all Lakeland Trails events, runners can expect a lively atmosphere with live music, a race MC, friendly marshals and high quality local catering. The Leighton Hall café will also be open on the day - perfect for spectators to find refreshments!
Entry for Lakeland Trails at Leighton Hall opens today (Thursday, 15 January) at 10am, with earlybird pricing available for the first 250 entrants. Organisers told us: "Places will be limited, as this venue has a lower capacity than some of our other locations, so early entry is strongly advised."
