Fresh Route For The Jim Young Marymass 10K
New course for Irvine favourite...
This relates to: Jim Young Marymass 10K
The Jim Young Marymass 10K returns to Irvine on Wednesday 19 August 2026 with an exciting new officially measured course for one of Ayrshire's most popular summer evening races.
Organised by Irvine Running Club and held under UK Athletics rules as a Scottish Athletics licensed event, the race also hosts the Ayrshire Harriers 10K Championship. The event continues to attract a strong field each year, with entries limited to 450 runners after reaching capacity in 2025.
The new route starts on Montgomery Lane before following cycle paths and Marine Drive on a predominantly tarmac course, finishing beside Irvine Beach Park. Although largely flat, the revised layout offers an enjoyable mix of coastal scenery and fast running, making it attractive to both competitive club runners and those looking to achieve a new personal best.
Runners can expect chip timing from What's My Time, a mid race water station and a finisher's medal, while every participant will also receive a complimentary ice cream courtesy of Vanilla Joe's. Registration and the post race prize presentation take place at the Scottish Maritime Museum, helping create a welcoming atmosphere before and after the race.
Supported by Brodie Engineering, Vanilla Joe's, Specsavers and SimpsInns, the Jim Young Marymass 10K combines strong local backing with a well organised race experience. With a brand new course and another competitive evening of racing in prospect, it promises to be a highlight of the Ayrshire road running calendar.
