Amazing Northampton Race

This Run Is Amazing!

Take a grand tour of everything great in Northampton this autumn...

Britain's largest town is set to welcome a rebranded and better-than-ever half marathon this autumn. Renowned for its shoe making and leather industry, Northampton will be awash with shoes of a different kind on 17 September as participants put their trainers on to be a part of the inaugural Amazing Northampton Run.

Organisers say: "The Amazing Northampton Run is one of the few races that has an entire half marathon route completely on roads. There is no rough terrain or off-road sections - it's a nice challenge, but a challenge nonetheless."

The half marathon route will take runners through beautiful parks, along the River Nene, past great sporting venues and amazing architecture. Starting in the town's historic Market Square, participants will pass by Sixfields Stadium and Franklin Gardens, through two parks and back to the town centre.

For those who would like to be a part of the occasion, but don't feel equipped to take on the full distance, there is the option to complete the race as part of a team relay challenge. And adding to the egalitarian nature of the event there is also a 3 mile race - which is perfect for newcomers to running or those coming back from injury.

Action on the day will be kicked off with a warm up by run leader, personal trainer and fitness instructor Michelle Lewis (host of ‘Running Tales’ podcast). Michelle came to fame during lockdown with her street dancing sessions in fancy dress for her neighbours on Sunday evenings encouraging them to join in and have fun at the same time. She’ll be doing the same at the Amazing Northampton Run; getting runners loosened up and ready for the 13.1 miles ahead!
