New 10K For Skye

Fancy a 10K or maybe you could try a tri in Skye this summer...

Take a summer trip to Skye this August and be a part of the inaugural Staffin Triathlon and 10K. This brand new offering from Skye Events will provide adventure-seekers with the opportunity to take part in sprint or mini-sprint triathlon or for those who prefer to stay dry there is a stand-alone 10K option - no goggles or bike required!

Set beneath the dramatic outline of the Trotternish Ridge on the north east coast of the Isle of Skye the event is set to take place on 26 August. Staffin is famed for its white houses, beautiful beach and amazing geology. With the most rugged yet breathtaking land and seascape, the village has spectacular views, and the clear clean waters of the Hebridean Minch at Staffin Bay frame the beauty of this peaceful Highland retreat.

This event means you can experience some of the best scenery Skye has to offer, the sandy Staffin beach is one of the most popular beaches on the island due to its close proximity to the Old Man of Storr and Kilt Rock. It provides sheltered waters, and is most famous for its dinosaur footprints discovered in 2002 - the largest of their kind in Scotland.

Organisers say: "We can’t lie, the route is not flat and fast, so no PBs to be had here. But the terrain will excite and challenge both the novice and the experienced triathlete or runner.

"This is an open road race and with the holiday season still in full swing, we hope with an early start there will be less traffic on the roads."
