Victory is best known for her role as Horatio, Lord Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar on 21 October 1805. She now sits proudly as the centrepiece in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The ship was restored and opened to the public by King George V on 17 July 1928. To this day it retains its status as a fully commissioned ship in the Royal Navy and serves in dry dock as the flagship of the First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff.

There are just over six weeks until the 2024 AJ Bell Great South Run returns to Portsmouth on Sunday 20th October for the latest edition of the iconic 10-mile running event. This year will be one of the biggest ever Great South Runs, with 23,000 runners set to compete. So, your very own 'road to Victory' is in sight! There's still time to enter the 34th Great South Run and organisers want to SEA what you are made of!

With a seafront start and finish in Southsea, the race route takes you to Portsmouth Harbour and the Historic Naval Dockyard. Enjoy the picturesque views of the Isle of Wight and experience incredible local support along the historic route, before a grandstand finish on Clarence Esplanade, close to Southsea Castle.

Great South Run is famed for an amazing atmosphere with its on-course music zones and bustling event village. Keep your eyes peeled for the amazing Karaoke Kicks zones, and make sure you save some energy to enjoy a sing-a-long with them as their infectious energy will give you a lift when you need it the most.

Thousands of spectators will line the seaside route to cheer you on and to help keep those legs pumping, and charity cheer points will give you much-needed support. Don't forget to WAVE to the Pump It Up and Beats Boost DJs as you pass them…they’ll be pumping out the rock anthems to keep you motivated as you make your way around the course.

The 2023 winners were Zakariya Mahamed (Southampton AC, 46:41) and Lily Partridge (Birchfield Harriers, 54:04). Both ran new lifetime bests. Will you PB beside the sea...?
