The Great Manchester Run will return on Sunday 31 May 2026, bringing one of the UK’s most iconic mass participation events back to the city centre.
Televised live on the BBC, the event will once again feature a city centre 10K and half marathon, with runners starting on Portland Street before heading past some of Manchester’s most recognisable landmarks. The route is lined with spectators throughout, building towards a grandstand finish on Deansgate.
The Great Manchester Run is widely regarded as one of the standout events on the running calendar, known for its high energy atmosphere, live music zones and vocal support from spectators along the course. The event was voted Manchester’s Most Loved Event in 2025 and continues to attract runners of all ages and abilities, from first timers to experienced distance runners.
As Europe’s largest 10K, the event regularly welcomes around 35,000 runners, alongside its popular half marathon. On race day, more than 100,000 spectators are expected to line the streets, creating a distinctive Manchester backdrop that has become a hallmark of the race.
