Dunoon Ultra Marathon & Relay

Runnin' Doon The Watter

Push your limits at this summertime ultra event...

Are you ready to push your boundaries and experience the ultimate running adventure? The Dunoon Ultra Marathon is back on 23 August, offering runners an unforgettable journey through the wild and rugged landscapes of Argyll. Whether you’re tackling the full ultra or teaming up for the Dunoon Ultra Relay, this event promises challenge, camaraderie and breathtaking scenery every step of the way.

With a 30-35 mile course and an elevation gain of 3,500-4,000ft, this ultra-marathon is a true test of endurance. The final race route is still to be confirmed but runners can expect a mix of steep climbs, fast descents and exhilarating flat sections - making it an event suitable for all abilities. Previous routes have showcased stunning coastal views, serene lochs and picturesque woodland trails, offering the perfect balance of challenge and beauty.

The adventure kicks off from Benmore Gardens and runners will cross the finish line at Dunoon Pier, where a finisher’s custom tote bag awaits with race buff, medal, soft drink, biscuit and (if purchased) a race t-shirt. And for those weary legs? A complimentary massage at the finish line!

The Dunoon Ultra Relay is the perfect opportunity to share this epic challenge with friends. Each relay team member will complete roughly one-third of the course before handing over to their teammate in a celebration of endurance and teamwork.

Runners return year after year for the unforgettable atmosphere, with enthusiastic marshals and a community that makes every mile feel special. Past participants have called it “an incredible event with a buzz like no other”, praising the supportive volunteers, stunning route and unbeatable camaraderie.
