Get Ready For Greatness This May
Manchester gets ready for its biggest day of racing in over a decade...
The AJ Bell Great Manchester Run returns in 2025 and it's set to be the biggest in over a decade. With 35,000 runners expected to take on the 10K and Half Marathon (18 May) and 1,500 children joining the Junior & Mini events on Saturday (17 May), this is one of the UK’s largest and most iconic running events – and it’s only getting bigger.
Organisers stress: "All events are expected to sell out in advance, so if you’re thinking of joining in, now’s the time to secure your spot!"
The weekend kicks off with an action-packed Super Saturday at the city's Etihad Campus, where the kids take centre stage. With the Gladiators confirmed as official starters, the Junior & Mini events promise to be fun, energetic and inspiring – a brilliant family day out and a celebration of future running stars.
On race day, the streets of Manchester will come alive, with over 100,000 spectators lining the course to cheer runners on. The world will be watching too, as the entire event will be broadcast live on BBC, with millions expected to tune in. Leading the charge will be Britain’s best athletes, taking on international stars in a battle for the title of 2025 Great Manchester Run champion.
Running alongside them? Tens of thousands of proud Mancunians, many of them fundraising for causes close to their hearts – raising millions of pounds for charity. Keep your eyes peeled for famous faces like Gemma Atkinson, Tommy Fury and Gorka Marquez who are expected to join the celebrations.
Whether you’re racing, cheering or just soaking up the atmosphere, Great Manchester Run 2025 is more than a race – it’s a weekend-long celebration of the city, its spirit and its people.
