Running In The Meadows

It's almost time to get yourself a spot at Edinburgh's Meadows Marathon...

Runners looking for a challenge next year can now mark their calendars as early bird entries for the 2026 Meadows Marathon will open on Friday (28 November). The event returns to Edinburgh’s iconic Meadows on 1 March and provides runners with the chance to make an early New Year resolution by committing to a spring race goal.

Organisers told us: "Those eager to secure a spot can sign up for email alerts ahead of entries going live on 28 November. Registration will ensure runners receive the ticket link as soon as the sale opens."

The event offers far more than the headline 26.2 miles. Organisers have confirmed that runners of all abilities are welcome with a full programme of distances including 5K, 10K, half marathon, full marathon and a popular relay option. The team behind the event said that there is something for everyone, whether you are a seasoned competitor or taking your very first steps into running. It is also a great opportunity to gather friends together and take on a team challenge.

Organised by students through the Edinburgh Students’ Charities Appeal, it has grown into one of the group’s flagship fundraising events. Since its launch in 2007, the race has raised more than £200,000 for local, national and international charities while providing a platform for the student community to make a positive impact.

All finishers will receive a medal along with the choice of a race t-shirt or the environmentally friendly option of planting a tree through the event’s partnership with Trees Not Tees. Over the last four years this initiative has resulted in 793 trees being planted.
