World Cup Pre Race!

Celebrate Scotland’s World Cup return at the Saltire Trail Races...

With Scotland still riding high after the historic Hampden victory that secured a place at the 2026 World Cup, there has never been a better moment to celebrate national pride. While the Tartan Army will be flying their saltires across the USA next summer, runners can mark the occasion a little earlier by taking part in the Saltire Trail Races on 9 May.

The event takes place in Athelstaneford, East Lothian, the historic birthplace of Scotland’s national flag, making it the perfect setting for a day of Scottish celebration and competitive running. The races will be held on the scenic Kilduff Estate and offer three distances: a 10K, a 5K and a 2K fun run for younger participants and families.

All routes follow a mix of estate trails, tarmac and field boundary paths, providing a varied and enjoyable challenge with the rolling East Lothian countryside as a backdrop. With the entire event taking place on private land and no road crossings, runners of all ages and abilities can enjoy a safe and relaxed race environment.

The Saltire Trail Races form part of the Athelstaneford village summer fair, giving the day a strong community feel. Spectators and runners can enjoy a barbecue, drinks, home baking, games and a range of family-friendly activities before and after their events. All proceeds will support Athelstaneford Primary School Parent Council.

Every finisher will receive a medal, while trophies await the fastest male and female runners. Winners of the 5K and 10K will also take home a £100 cash prize.
