Nice Work For Elves
Festive races on offer at Cannock Chase and Salcey Forest this December...
Runners in the Midlands are well catered for this December thanks to Nice Work's festive offerings at both Northamptonshire's Salcey Forest and Staffordshire's Cannock Chase - two beautifully scenic, but at times challenging, Christmas runs.
The Salcey Forest Christmas 10K & 5K is up first on 8 December. The beautiful, tree-lined paths of Salcey Forest are the venue for this wonderful trail race which is perfect for novices and veterans of the sport alike. Runners will race along the hard-packed trails and with the route being naturally flat with some satisfying straight sections, it is perfect for anyone trying to run a fast time or for anyone new to trail running.
Organisers say: "Following the popularity of the new course in 2023, there will be no U turns once again! This new race route explores parts of the forest never raced in before and is entirely different from the parkrun route! The race will take you through the flat, mixed-terrain trails within the forest."
The Cannock Christmas 10K & 5K will take place on 14 December. At this venue runners will take to the trail and wind their way through the trees, celebrating the great outdoors and the arrival of the festive season in one, perfect event.
The course takes place mainly on hard track and forest trail and will be gently undulating but with a Christmas gift of 167' climb at 3 & 8K!
Speaking about both events, organisers remind us: "Don't forget, seasonal fancy dress is most welcome! Get those Santa hats at the ready, folks!"
