The Great North Run is a Half Marathon following a closed road route from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields. The 13.1 mile course passes some of the North East’s best known landmarks, including the Tyne Bridge, before continuing through Gateshead and towards the South Shields coastline.

Known as one of the world’s largest Half Marathon events, the route combines city streets, major road sections and a seafront finish with strong crowd support throughout. The course features a mix of rolling terrain, open road running and coastal views, attracting runners of all abilities from across the UK and beyond.
