Budleigh Blister by Exmouth Harriers

Devonian Delight!

We plaster some news of the Budleigh Blister...

The mere name Budleigh Salterton brings an immediate smile to your lips. This Devonian delight is surrounded by miles of runnable trails in the East Devon National Landscape that the local Exmouth Harriers club will utilise to the max in hosting the Budleigh Blister on Sunday, 23 November 2025.

Budleigh Blister might sound like a job for a podiatrist but the race title hints towards the challenging nature of the 10-mile trail route chosen for this concluding race in the 2025 Instep Devon Championship race series.

In fairness, they do like alliteration in Devon race names. Among the 2025 Instep Devon Championship events are Fast Friday, Haytor Heller, Crediton Crunch, Templer Ten, and Budleigh Blister (formerly known as Bicton Blister).

Exmouth Harriers have added a 'Blister Lite' at approximately five miles to the Budleigh Blister programme for 2025. However, only the full Budleigh Blister qualifies for the Instep Devon Championships series – no half measures here!

The Holt Bar and Terrace at Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club is the enticing Race HQ for the Budleigh Blister. Situated in the stunning Devon countryside, high above the Otter Valley looking out to sea, this is an unrivalled location with views to die for and access to the River Otter Trail. Parking for competitors is at Lime Kiln Car Park, not at the Race HQ.

The race starts at 9:00am at Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club and there will be a memento for all finishers. Entries are still available for £18/£20 according to affiliation status. For the Blister Lite, the fees are reduced to £14/£16.

The last time this race was held was on 19 January 2025, when the winners were Tom Merson (Exmouth Harriers, 59:45) – the only finisher inside 60 minutes – and W45 Elizabeth Nuttall (Teignbridge Trotters, 1:14:04). The 182 runners finished in 2:30:54.

The leaders in the 2025 Instep Devon Championships, at the time of writing were Chris Hewitt of Tiverton Harriers with 399 points and Cloe Weeks (Teignbridge Trotters, 398). South West Road Runners have a comfortable lead in the club championships.
